Hey everyone! Head Elf here (also known as Valarie’s assistant Becky).
So glad you are here because, well…
Valarie and I are on a mission.
A mission to help you aspire to be a writer (or offer up help if you already are) and especially a children’s book writer.
I don’t know about you, but my Inbox is crammed with all sorts of fancy-smancy “You Can Be A Writer!” tutorials, courses, and books. I’m not saying they are bad, some are actually pretty good. But I am saying all this info makes my head spin. I am thinking I am not alone either.
Hence our mission
Throughout the next few months Valarie (a book publisher and author) and myself (a veteran blogger) would like to share tips, thoughts, nuggets of info, resources, and basically anything we can share that could help you be the writer you want to be.
No bells and whistles. No schtick or gimmicks. No Wacky Wavers or Dancing Pandas…
well, maybe Dancing Pandas because pandas are cool.
The bottom line is that we want to start using our combined know-how to help guide , educate, and encourage you to pull out that dusty children’s manuscript you wrote years ago and stuffed into a drawer. Yes, you know the one we mean.
Maybe we will be sharing personal experiences. Maybe it will be some über cool info one of us has found. The goal is to help you grow as a writer/blogger, but do it in an authentic and conversational way.
Make sense? SO…what I’d like to know from you is, when it comes to writing, what keeps you up at night? What are the burning questions rattling around in your head, or the things you know you need to know…but just haven’t had the time to research or learn?
We’d like to know. And we’d like to help.
Don’t be shy. Tell us what’s on your mind. Leave your feedback in the dandy, shiny, convenient Comment Box below.

Hey Becky! So glad I found your blog! I’m DETERMINED to share my stories and pictures with children of all ages. I think my biggest questions are very basic: what size paper is best for illustration? What type paper? Does this matter? AND, finding the right publisher would be a bonus!
So glad you are here Ramey!
